March

We have just started to learn about 2D shapes.  We have been learning about these shapes: triangle, square, rhombus, hexagon, trapezoid.  We have been working on identifying how many sides and corners each shape has.
We have been learning how to make shapes on the geoboard.
We have also been working on becoming fluent on the number combinations to make the numbers 5-7. We use number bracelets to help us.

We played with pattern block puzzles were able to make some great pictures.

We also made shapes with play-doh. The mats helped us make  a lot of different types of shapes.

We also had a great time learning about brushing our teeth and seeing the parts we missed when we brushed the first time.

Before........

After............

We also did an experiment to see what happens to the plaque in our mouth when we eat sugary foods. We observed that the plaque can grow and "explode" when you eat too much sugary foods.
The cup on the left shows the plaque after eating  sugary foods, the cup on the right shows what happens when you eat foods without a lot of sugar.

Dr.Seuss

To celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday we ate green eggs and ham and Cat in the Hat hats! We even had Cat in the Hat visit us and a guest reader read Green Eggs and Ham.

Blubber Glove

We finally got outside for recess!!! There were way too many days of inside recess.

100th Day Fun!!

January 15- 17

We learned all about Martin Luther King Jr. and read  these two great books

After we wrote our own dreams....

We also learned what it would be like if we were not all treated the same. Some of use had star stickers and were allowed to play while others had to sit and watch. Then we switched. The students had a chance to discuss how they felt when they were not aloud to do something because of their star or not having a star.
We also made a snow storm in a jar for fun!!

In our writing time we have been working on learning about proper punctuation and the correct way to write a sentence. These are the anchor charts we use in the classroom to remind us of what to do.
