This week we will be participating in the Aspire Higher Parade on Tuesday. On Friday we had a chance to talk a little about what we want to be when we grow up. In this upcoming week we will talk more about jobs and community helpers. Here are some pictures about what some of our friends aspire to be when they grow up.

Leaves are Falling
We have had a great week learning about leaves and fall. One of our fun stations this week in math was counting the leaves that are hanging from the ceiling.
We have also added word wall words over the tables so that students can practice recognizing word wall words when they are dismissed to their tables.
Fire Safety
Sorry for the delay on this post!
Two weeks ago we learned all about fire safety and had the Norway fire department visit the school.

| We learned that we need to check our fire alarms at home to make sure the batteries are working. |
We had a chance to see the clothes that firefighters wear for a forest fire and a building fire.
We were also able to see how a heat detecting camera works.
We also had a chance to sing our 5 Little Firefighters song for the firefighters.
We had a chance to meet Sparky and take a chance to climb on the fire truck.

Zero the Hero
Wednesday was the 30th day of school! We count how many days we have been in school and each day we get another bundle of 10 we celebrate Zero the Hero. Zero helps us learn to recognize the numbers that end in a zero and count by 10.

Falling into Routines
We are starting to get into the routine of our stations. The students are really starting to grow in their independence and are able to use the workboard with only a little help from me. Here is a peek at what we did this week.
This was some of our sharing time in writing this week. We have been working on writing narrative stories and stretching our small moments into first, then, and next. We have been working on visualizing our story and trying to tell each thing we did in the moment instead of doing a morning to night story or just saying I ate supper.

We worked on counting how many words are in a sentence and sorting them. You can do this with your child at home too. Say a sentence to your child and have them count how many words are in the sentence you said (up to 10 words).

| We also explored leaves | and sorted them by their attributes. | |||
We have really taken off with our reading workshop and have learned how to pick "just right" books.

This was our poem for the week. We will learn a poem for most of the color.
