Corn Husking Time!

This week our school is participating in the Maine Harvest Lunch Program. Each day a we have had a featured food item that is from a local farm. We also had guest speakers come in from Health Oxford Hills.

 

Today we had a chance to help and husk corn that we will be eating tomorrow.  The students had a lot of fun helping and husking the corn.

We Are Readers

This week in reading workshop we have been working on identifying the cover of the book and learning about book features such as the title, author, illustrator, title page, words, and pictures. We have also learned how to read a story by looking at the pictures. Here are some pictures of us reading.

Our First Computer Lab

We went to the computer lab for the first time on Friday. We did a great job. I helped all of the students log-on and then we had a chance to use starfall.com. We worked specifically on letters and letter sounds. Each week we will learn a new activity and also learn to use some of the activities on abcya.com. These are some great sites to use at home too.

Carpet Time

There are so many things that we have been working on the past 12 day of school! Today we discussed the constitution and that it is a set of rules. We decided to show how we follow the classroom rules by sitting appropriately on the carpet. Sit with legs crossed, raise our hands, and sit quietly.

Photo Booth Fun!

We had a great start to the school year. As we were getting to know our peers, the school, SOPs, and routines we had a fun time taking some silly pictures in our "photo booth".
