When we grow up we want to be ........

 

Aspire Higher

This week we have been learning about different jobs and talking about going to college. We have also talked about why we work and the difference between items that we want and need.

Here are two of the presenters that spoke, I unfortunately forgot to take pictures of some of them.

 

We had a fun filled day on Wednesday with both the Aspire Higher march and the Math Night.

 This was a pre-march picture as we were eating snack and waiting for the parade to start.

 At the math night students tried to build cup towers to reach a string. For a challenge, students could only use 10 cups.

Parents even joined inn on the fun!

 We also estimated how many items were in a counting jar.

 

Food Play

On Tuesday we had a performance by Food Play. The students loved 

the juggling, skits, and singing.  We learned about eating real food

and making wise food choices. We also learned to check the

ingredients of food before we eat it.

Field Trip

We had a great time at Pineland Farm learning about seeds and how plants grow.

We went on a seed hunt and found lots of seeds!

 We counted how many seeds are in a pumpkin.

We had a great day!

Fire Safety

On Thursday we had a visit from the Norway Fire Department. We had a chance to learn about the importance of a working fire alarms in your home and what to do when the alarm goes off.

Apple Crisp

We made apple crisp on Friday. The students each had a turn to peel the apples. They loved seeing how long the apple peels would get. We all tried it at the end of the day. All except for two students liked the apple crisp.

Corn Husking Time!

This week our school is participating in the Maine Harvest Lunch Program. Each day a we have had a featured food item that is from a local farm. We also had guest speakers come in from Health Oxford Hills.

 

Today we had a chance to help and husk corn that we will be eating tomorrow.  The students had a lot of fun helping and husking the corn.
